As we focus our attention on commemorating the reign of Queen Elizabeth II (1952-2022), the Mint will not be issuing any 2023-dated Canadian circulation coins featuring both the traditional reverse designs and an obverse featuring Queen Elizabeth II.
Each coin’s obverse is double-dated (“1952-2022”) to commemorate the reign of Queen Elizabeth II.

On 8 September 2022, Her Late Majesty Queen Elizabeth II passed away peacefully at Balmoral Castle in Scotland. Surrounded by plum blossom, a popular symbol in Chinese history, art, and lanterns, the dragon’s depiction appeals to children. The inscription 'Year of the dragon’ and the yeardate appear at the center of the coin. The ideogram of the dragon appears below. On the reverse side, all the animals of the Chinese zodiac are drawn in a cartoon-like way around the Ying and Yang symbol. A complete cycle of the Chinese zodiac will be composed from 2018 to 2029

The wheel of the zodiac signs is engraved on the coin's gold-colored crown. One sign stands out from the background because it is larger than the others and has a sandblasted background, different from the smoother one of the others. It is the symbol of Aquarius. Part of the wheel is hidden by spirals of mist, in reference to air, the element of this sign. Another part of the wheel is submerged by water poured from the spout of an ornate vase. A starry sky with the constellation Aquarius can be seen in the background.

An extraordinary collection accompanies the approach to the Olympic and Paralympic Winter Games of Milan Cortina 2026 and celebrates its spirit through its most iconic symbols: the logo of the event, the journey of the flame, the mascot and the winter disciplines associated with the host locations. This striking collector coin immortalises Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II in 1oz of pure silver in celebration of her 100th birthday anniversary.

Queen Elizabeth II was born on 21 April 1926 and ascended the throne in 1952 at the age of 25, following the death of her father, King George VI. She married Prince Philip, Duke of Edinburgh, in 1947, and together they had four children. Her reign spanned 70 years, making her the longest-serving monarch in British history. Throughout her life, she was a symbol of resilience and dedication, guiding the monarchy through decades of profound social and political change. As Head of the Commonwealth, she fostered unity across diverse nations and remained a steadfast figure on the global stage. Queen Elizabeth II passed away on 8 September 2022, and was succeeded by her eldest son, King Charles III. In 2026, the world commemorates what would have been her 100th birthday—celebrating a life of service, dignity and devotion to her country and the Commonwealth.

The coin’s reverse features a stylised representation of the commemorative florin issued in 1954 to mark Queen Elizabeth II’s first visit to Australia. It showcases a lion and a kangaroo standing side by side, a powerful symbol of the enduring bond between the United Kingdom and Australia. Both the lion and kangaroo, as well as the coin’s outer rim are gilded in 24-carat gold. Surrounding the design is the inscription ‘H.M. QUEEN ELIZABETH II 100th ANNIVERSARY’, accompanied by stylised dots, the 2026 year-date, and The Perth Mint’s ‘P’ mintmark.
Accompanied by a numbered certificate of authenticity, the coin comes in a classic display case with a clear lid and an illustrated shipper.
