1977 is the 25th anniversary of Queen Elizabeth II's accession to the throne, also known as the Silver Jubilee. The Queen was greeted by an enthusiastic crowd as she toured the country. On June 7 that year, the Queen and her husband took the royal golden carriage from Buckingham Palace to St Paul's Cathedral for the 25th anniversary of the Queen's accession to the throne. She delivered a speech, reaffirming her promise when she was enthroned, that she would do her duty and fulfill her promise for the rest of her life.
