Whether we think of happiness as winning the lottery or a happy family life, we all want it. The Czech Mint's lucky charm with the key to happiness motif will help to those who do not get it. The silver coin with Czech crystal is part of the Crystal Coin gift line.

The key is an ordinary piece of metal with an extraordinary meaning. It can unite and divide. It protects what is dear to us and protects us from what is dangerous. It symbolizes mystery, because only the initiate knows to which castle it belongs, and it is an expression of unlimited trust for the same reason. The key may lock not only the door, but also the mouth, which is why it is a symbol of silence and prudence. It also unlocks the heart, and it symbolizes partnership in love - it is useless on its own, meaningful only in conjunction with the lock it fits. The key symbolizes power and authority, but also the weight of responsibility in the Christian faith. The jingle of keys represents freedom in modern Czech society. It is not without reason that something that is important is referred to as a key…

The reverse side of the coin, which is the work of the medal maker Petra Brodská, DiS., presents a decorative key whose head is filled with a trio of crystal stones. The bilingual inscription states KLÍČ KE ŠTĚSTÍ – THE KEY TO HAPPINESS. The background depicts gears that evoke the mechanism of a lock. Within them there are the motifs of a keyhole, a heart, a four-leaf clover and the tree of life. The keyhole and four-leaf clover also appear on the obverse side. As the coins of the Czech Mint are issued with the foreign licence of the island of Niue, they still bear its attributes on the obverse side - the name and portrait of Queen Elizabeth II, the year of issue 2022 and the nominal value of 2 DOLLARS (NZD).

The coin is issued in a limited edition of 1,000 pieces and represents an original gift for any occasion. It is stored in elegant packaging that simply transforms into a practical frame to be displayed

Shortly after the death of Emperor Xian Feng in 1861, his concubine Cixi assumed control and ruled China as The Empress Dowager. Cixi was able to read, a rare skill at that time, and educated herself on domestic and foreign affairs, creating policies that would modernise China’s culture and economy. Recognising the importance of making international trade as easy as possible she instigated changes in customs, weights and measures that enabled the creation of a standardised ‘Dragon’ Trade Dollar.

Trade Dollars had been used to facilitate international trade since the ‘Spanish Dollars’ of the 15th Century, and the first ‘Dragon’ Trade dollars were struck in 1889 with the coin’s weight in English lettering sitting beneath a traditional Chinese dragon. Now, the Chinese Trade Dollar is reimagined for 2021 by The East India Company, our stunning Proof finish emphasising every detail of a new design that features a mighty dragon encircling the globe.

What does a key mean for you? The symbolic range is extremely wide. At its heart, a key is an opener of locks. Whether it’s a door, a treasure chest, or the metaphorical heart, keys let us into unknown worlds and reveal secrets. In Eastern Europe keys were hung upside down over beds to ward off bad dreams. Jewish midwives used to give a key to a woman in labour to encourage safe delivery of the baby. Several cultures have buried their dead with keys to unlock the afterlife. The ancient Greeks saw keys as symbols of knowledge.

Today they are also traditionally given to graduates, and indeed anyone at the threshold to their next adventure. In modern romantic notion a key is often considered as “the key to my heart”. This is a love symbol much like the heart symbol. So whatever the occasion, thanks to the enhanced smartminting® technology you can use this 1 oz coin in antique finish to make your own meanings.

Lady Bugs have been symbols of luck for over 1000 years! Legend says that the lady bug first gained its “Lucky” status when it kept landing on a man’s neck that was sentenced to be executed by the French guillotine. The man proclaimed his innocence and the Lady Bug kept landing on his neck to distract the executioner. It was seen as a divine intervention and spared the man’s life and later he was proven innocent.

The Lady Bug’s legend grew as European farmers prayed for help from pesky insects and Lady Bugs arrived shortly after. Drawing it’s inspiration from the presence of Angels on Napoleon’s Death medal and his tomb at Les Invalids.

Napoleon Bonaparte was born on the island of Corsica in 1769. He is widely regarded as one of history’s great military minds, building an Empire that stretched across Europe before his defeat at Waterloo in 1815. He was exiled to St Helena, where he remained until his death in 1821.

While Napoleon’s military cunning is undisputable, it is also believed that he carried a symbol of good luck with him, his own personal guardian angel.

The French Angel Coin first appeared in the late 18th Century. Its designer became suspected of revolutionary tendencies and was sentenced to death but somehow escaped the guillotine. Allegedly he bribed his captors with an Angel Coin, and it became known as a lucky charm. 19th Century French Naval Captains would refuse to sail without one in their purse, and even Napoleon was not beyond belief in the lucky Angel Coin. According to folklore he carried one in his pocket throughout his reign, only to fatefully lose it the day before his final defeat at Waterloo.

The likeable and intelligent domestic pig has been kept by humans for some 9,000 years. In present-day Austria, pork is still by far the most popular meat and plays a starring role in Austrian cuisine.

In former times, the pig was a symbol of plenty because it could sustain an entire family for a considerable amount of time. The popular Austrian expression ‘Schwein gehabt’ (literally ‘had pig’), meaning to be fortunate in one’s misfortune, is said to have been coined in the 16th century during times when people did not have enough to eat. The lucky ones were those who had at least one pig. Maybe the pig can be a sign of hope for us all in these troubled times, because something unforeseen and pleasant can happen even when there is no sign of light at the end of the tunnel. We wish you unexpectedly pleasant experiences in 2023 and hope that by the year’s end you too can say that you have had pig!

The obverse of the nine-sided coin shows the coats of arms of all nine of the provinces of Austria. The coin’s reverse features the head of a pig, its snout slightly raised above a crop of lucky four-leafed clovers. A pig and four-leafed clovers – two lucky symbols for the price of one!

With this stunning shaped coin, CIT combines the symbol of a scarab beetle with one of the most famous Pharaohs to ever live, Tutankhamun. His tomb opening celebrates its 100th anniversary in 2022.

In ancient Egyptian religion, the god Ra whose eye is also depicted on the obverse together with the Ankh or Key of Life, rolls the sun across the sky each day, transforming bodies and souls.

Scarab beetles roll dung into a ball. Because of this symbolically similar action, the scarab was seen as a reflection of the heavenly cycle and was representing the idea of rebirth or regeneration. In ancient Egyptian religion, the scarab was also a symbol of immortality, resurrection, transformation and protection much used in funerary art.

Over the ages, scarabs have been used to symbolize wealth, as currency, fashion accessory and also to serve as a form of artistic expression.

Thanks to the enhanced smartminting® technology this is a numismatic piece of art in a 1 oz silver ultra-high relief with an integrated crystal from Swarovski. It is decorated with two names of Tutankhamun in hieroglyphene style his own individual name and his title as a Pharaoh which was also found on his throne when it was discovered 100 years ago.

If you want everlasting protection or just a nice meaningful gift. This shaped scarab beetle coin will be both.
