The European pond turtle (Emys orbicularis) is an aquatic turtle species. Native to Slovakia, the pond turtle was once widespread throughout the south of the country, but today its strongest populations are found in the Eastern Slovak Lowland and the Danubian Lowland. It is a protected reptile species that can live for more than 100 years. The pond turtle inhabits still or slowly flowing waters with muddy bottoms and rich vegetation, such as oxbow lakes, canals, ponds, lakes, and marshes. It is an excellent swimmer and diver and often basks in the sun on banks, tree trunks, or stones. Sandy areas are essential for egg laying. After overwintering, the hatchlings dig their way out and move to the water. Adults hibernate underwater, buried in mud. The pond turtle’s diet consists mainly of aquatic invertebrates, but it also feeds on frogs, tadpoles, fish, algae, and plants. Appropriate measures to support its conservation include the restoration of wetlands and nesting sites in their surroundings, as well as preventing the release of non-native invasive turtle species into the wild.

Obverse:
The obverse depicts a European pond turtle (Emys orbicularis) in its natural habitat. The bottom of the field features a white water lily rendered in colour. Above the turtle is the Slovak coat of arms, and below it, in the lower right, is the year of issuance ‘2026’. The name of the issuing country ‘SLOVENSKO’ is inscribed along the upper left edge.

Reverse:
The reverse design consists of two European pond turtles swimming in water. To their left are the coin’s denomination ‘5’ and currency ‘EURO’, one above the other. The inscription ‘KORYTNAČKA MOČIARNA’, the Slovak name of the European pond turtle, runs along the edge of the field from the upper left to the lower right, while the scientific name ‘EMYS ORBICULARIS’ is inscribed along the lower left edge. On the right side, among the bubbles between the turtles’ heads, are the stylised initials ‘KL’ of the coin’s designer, Karol Ličko, and the mint mark of the Kremnica Mint (Mincovňa Kremnica), consisting of the letters ‘MK’ between two dies.

Struck in 1 oz of pure silver with a 40 mm diameter and finished in flawless proof quality, the coin presents a high-definition depiction of Taurus as a serene goddess accompanied by a majestic bull. Issued as legal tender by Ghana, the obverse displays the Coat of Arms framed by the zodiac calendar. A harmonious blend of power and elegance, this coin is a standout addition to the series. In the center of the reverse is a vivid depiction of Taurus as a calm and powerful goddess alongside a noble bull, surrounded by lush green tones and natural light. The name “Taurus” is part of the design. Around the scene, a ring of all zodiac symbols completes the celestial theme.

The obverse side of the coin features the Coat of Arms of the Republic of Ghana at its center. Surrounding the Coat of Arms is a complete zodiac calendar, with all twelve zodiac icons arranged in a circular pattern. The inscriptions include: “REPUBLIC OF GHANA” (the issuing country), “2026” (the year of issue), and “FIVE CEDIS” (the face value).

The Zodiac is an ancient system of astrology dividing the sky into twelve segments, each linked to a constellation and calendar period. These signs—Aries, Taurus, Gemini, Cancer, Leo, Virgo, Libra, Scorpio, Sagittarius, Capricorn, Aquarius, and Pisces—are believed to shape personality, behavior, and life direction. Originating from Babylonian astronomy and refined by the Greeks, the zodiac continues to be an influential framework for interpreting human nature and cosmic influences across various cultures.

Taurus, the second zodiac sign (April 20–May 20), is represented by the bull and governed by Venus. Taurus embodies stability, practicality, and patience. Individuals born under this earth sign are often grounded, dependable, and known for their perseverance. Taurus values comfort, beauty, and harmony, driven by a strong appreciation for life’s pleasures. This sign is associated with determination, loyalty, and a steady approach to achieving goals, reflecting an unwavering commitment to both personal relationships and professional ambitions.

This modern coin was designed in the Art Deco style. It is characterized by geometric simplification, decorative patterns, and special coloring. At the center of the coin is a highly stylized flamingo with a pink silhouette. To emphasize the elegance of the issue, it is completely covered with enamel. This stylistic element is complemented by integrated gold flakes, which seem to float in the enamel, giving the coin a luxurious, decorative appearance. Together, these elements create a contrasting, modern work of art.

This is the seventh and final edition of the successful series in which we give famous ancient coins a new modern look.

This time we are heading to Delphi. This was an important ancient place of worship in Greece, dedicated to the god Apollo. Delphi is particularly well known for its famous oracle. In the Temple of Apollo, the priestess Pythia proclaimed prophecies, and people from all over the Greek world came to seek advice on political or personal decisions. Delphi was considered a religious center and was regarded by the Greeks as the “navel of the world”.

The image depicts a ram's head. In ancient Greece, this symbolized strength, sacrifice, divine protection, and fertility. It was also a common sacrificial animal in religious rituals. A ram sacrifice was considered particularly valuable and was often offered to important gods. The ram was also often found on rhytons. A rhyton (Greek rhýein = “to flow”) is an ancient conical drinking vessel, very often in the shape of an animal's head.

As always, the issue includes three fantastic specifications in silver and gold. This ravishing masterpiece is kept in an antique look and impresses with its astonishing ultra-high relief.

To celebrate the 40th anniversary of the opening of the Musée d'Orsay, the Monnaie de Paris (Paris Mint) is lending the exceptional talents of its artisans to the museum. Conceived by the Monnaie de Paris in close collaboration with the Musée d'Orsay, the Excellence à la Française 2026 collection brilliantly illustrates the perfectly mastered fusion of their two worlds.

On the obverse of this coin, several figures from iconic works interact beneath the nave's glass roof, as if awake and discovering the museum together. In the foreground, François Pompon's Polar Bear and Vincent van Gogh's Self-Portrait stand side by side; behind them are Édouard Manet's Fifer and Claude Monet's Woman with a Parasol Facing Left. Also featured is Edgar Degas's Little Dancer Aged Fourteen, captured inside the building, in front of the large clock on the fifth floor. With a single gesture, all these decorative elements are incorporated into the reproduction of the clock's frame, a key object in the history of the Musée d'Orsay building.

On the reverse side of this coin, the main subject relates to the architectural structure of the Musée d'Orsay. It features four of the coffers decorated with rosettes that adorn the nave. They are encased in a metal structure decorated with rivets, reproducing the rhythm of the nave's ceiling, unchanged since the construction of the Gare d'Orsay.

Reproduction of the painting "Winter" by Vilhelms Purvītis, using colour print.

This release is dedicated to the 150th anniversary of the birth of the painter, Vilhelms Purvītis.

Vilhelms Purvītis (1872-1945) was one of the key figures of Latvian visual art in the first half of the 20th century, and the founder and modernizer of Latvian landscape painting.

The obverse features a colorized reproduction of the painting “Winter," with elements such as the majestic lacy birch trees, the glistening lake, and the overcast winter sky. The painting has been transferred to the coin using glaze, texture and mirror surface, of varying intensity.

The reverse shows the plaster model of the same painting with several types of surfaces, worked in different ways, to a more or less intensified glaze effect.

The anchor has a broad meaning. It symbolizes stability, solidity and protection, as it keeps a ship safely in the water and prevents it from drifting away. It stands for stability in difficult times, but also for the interplay of a thirst for adventure and the desire for a safe return. It is often worn by people who have a connection to the sea or who associate a longing for freedom with a safe harbor. In maritime circles and beyond, the anchor is used as a lucky charm that symbolizes protection from danger.

The coin impresses with its exciting combination of different qualities. Black proof finish in the background, partial gold plating of the anchor and other matt design elements make this coin something very special.

One of the world’s leading opera, theatre and classical music festivals, the Salzburg Festival celebrates its centenary in 2020. Featuring opera, theatre and classical concerts, the Salzburg Festival offers a broader spectrum of cultural variety than any other. To celebrate this major cultural event, which is constantly in the process of reinventing itself, we have come up with a particularly innovative coin design.

On 22 August 1920, the director Max Reinhardt staged Hugo von Hofmannsthal’s morality play Jedermann in Salzburg’s Domplatz (Cathedral Square) for the first time and in doing so

founded the Salzburg Festival. Since 1926, the play has been a permanent feature of the festival programme, a tradition interrupted only during the Nazi regime. Those who stage or direct Jedermann in Salzburg’s Domplatz have reached the pinnacle of their career.

In addition to Max Reinhardt and Hugo von Hofmannsthal, the composer Richard Strauss was also involved in the founding of this magnificent celebration of the performing arts, which did not take long to become established and achieve world renown. At Salzburg, the best is often not good enough. This gives the festival cultural relevance, which comes from its strength of tradition but also allows new directions to be explored and puts the avant-garde centre stage. This very special centenary coin is avant-garde itself. With an obverse that has the appearance of a plate with a flat inner part, a coin of this type has never been minted before. We believe it does the Salzburg Festival justice.
