The Taj Mahal, a magnificent mausoleum, was completed in 1648 in Agra, India. The Great Mogul Shah Jahan had this masterpiece built in honour of his late wife Mumtaz Mahal, who passed away in 1631. The name Taj Mahal, which means ‘crown of the palace’, is a tribute to her.

The construction period lasted 22 years. The core of the building, the dome and the filigree minarets are made of bricks fired on site and clad both inside and out with gleaming white marble slabs. Decorated with a multitude of precious stones from distant lands, it attracts around 5 million visitors every year.

The freestanding coin with an antique finish is already the 4th issue in this successful series. The ultra-high relief on both sides impressively highlights the special architectural form of the building. The obverse shows details of the tomb, while the reverse depicts the interior view.

Just as the Taj Mahal is a monument to eternal love, this exquisite coin is a numismatic work of art of poignant beauty.

Drawing it’s inspiration from the presence of Angels on Napoleon’s Death medal and his tomb at Les Invalids.

Napoleon Bonaparte was born on the island of Corsica in 1769. He is widely regarded as one of history’s great military minds, building an Empire that stretched across Europe before his defeat at Waterloo in 1815. He was exiled to St Helena, where he remained until his death in 1821.

While Napoleon’s military cunning is undisputable, it is also believed that he carried a symbol of good luck with him, his own personal guardian angel.

The French Angel Coin first appeared in the late 18th Century. Its designer became suspected of revolutionary tendencies and was sentenced to death but somehow escaped the guillotine. Allegedly he bribed his captors with an Angel Coin, and it became known as a lucky charm. 19th Century French Naval Captains would refuse to sail without one in their purse, and even Napoleon was not beyond belief in the lucky Angel Coin. According to folklore he carried one in his pocket throughout his reign, only to fatefully lose it the day before his final defeat at Waterloo.

Goldfinger Design
In Goldfinger, released in 1964, gold magnate Auric Goldfinger is planning an audacious attack on the United States Bullion Depository known as Fort Knox. Played by Sean Connery, Bond must prevent the criminal and his henchman Oddjob from irradiating the facility in order to profit from a resultant gold shortage and economic upheaval.

The coin’s reverse depicts a coloured illustration of James Bond and the female character Pussy Galore. Based on an official movie poster, the design also features a hand covered in skin-suffocating gold paint. Included on the reverse are the iconic gun barrel graphic from the franchise’s signature opening sequence, the famous 007 gun logo and the inscription ‘GOLDFINGER’.

Reproduction of the painting "Winter" by Vilhelms Purvītis, using colour print.

This release is dedicated to the 150th anniversary of the birth of the painter, Vilhelms Purvītis.

Vilhelms Purvītis (1872-1945) was one of the key figures of Latvian visual art in the first half of the 20th century, and the founder and modernizer of Latvian landscape painting.

The obverse features a colorized reproduction of the painting “Winter," with elements such as the majestic lacy birch trees, the glistening lake, and the overcast winter sky. The painting has been transferred to the coin using glaze, texture and mirror surface, of varying intensity.

The reverse shows the plaster model of the same painting with several types of surfaces, worked in different ways, to a more or less intensified glaze effect.
