Conceived by the Monnaie de Paris in close collaboration with the Musée d'Orsay, the Excellence à la Française 2026 collection brilliantly illustrates the perfectly mastered fusion of their two worlds.
On the obverse of this coin, several figures from iconic works interact beneath the nave's glass roof, as if awake and discovering the museum together. In the foreground, François Pompon's Polar Bear and Vincent van Gogh's Self-Portrait stand side by side; behind them are Édouard Manet's Fifer and Claude Monet's Woman with a Parasol Facing Left. Also featured is Edgar Degas's Little Dancer Aged Fourteen, captured inside the building, in front of the large clock on the fifth floor. With a single gesture, all these decorative elements are incorporated into the reproduction of the clock's frame, a key object in the history of the Musée d'Orsay building.
