The Tiger is the third of twelve signs in the Chinese Zodiac. According to legend the Jade Emperor invited the animals to race across a swift river, to determine their position in the zodiac. The confident Tiger was a likely contender to win, but kept getting swept downstream by the strong currents. Showing the determination and strength synonymous with those born under the sign, the Tiger finally made it a shore behind the Rat and Ox.

This Silver coin is dedicated to those born under the Chinese lunar year of the Tiger. The coin has a Proof quality, is fully Ruthenium plated and has an emerald green labradorite crystal insert as insert. It comes in a case, along with the Certificate of Authenticity. Limited mintage to 999 pcs worldwide.

Let’s start with the design: it shows a sleek tiger prowling across rocky terrain beneath a canopy of trees while a waterfall splashes in the background. The tiger’s jaws are open in what one can only assume is a loud roar as it lets all know within earshot that this is his territory! To the right of the massive big cat is the Chinese symbol for “tiger.” Positioned just below the symbol is an inscription that reads “YEAR OF THE TIGER.” The inscription is further augmented by the addition of an labradorite crystal inserted into the coin’s surface where the “O” in the inscription is located.

Struck by the prestigious Mint of Poland in nearly half an ounce (14.14 grams) of highly pure 99.9% fine silver, the coin takes on an ethereal glow thanks to an exceptionally bright orange-and-black colorization of the tiger. As a final touch, the coin has been generously plated with a layer of vibrant Black Ruthenium. The contrast is as striking as it is beautiful.
