The series includes the new 50, 20 and 10 euro cent coins designed by Joaquin Jiménez, Engraver General of the Monnaie de Paris. The €1 coin is also minted exclusively for the BU and BE series and will not be minted in circulating quality in 2024.
Following an initial impulse in January 2022 to mark the 20th anniversary of the Euro, in 2024 Monnaie de Paris is changing the design on the french 50, 20 and 10 € cent coins. Historically dedicated to the sower, these three coins will honor three exceptional women. All three pantheonized for their many contributions to France's influence. Constituting three unique designs, these three denominations will enter circulation on January 1 st , 2024, ensuring the continuity of French circulating coins for a minimum of 15 years. France thus joins the select circle of member countries offering a unique design on each denomination, symbolizing the diversity and multiple contributions of the French heritage. The first of January 2022 celebrates the 20th anniversary of the introduction of the euro, replacing the franc and becoming at the same time the European currency of the member countries of the euro zone. In addition, France will hold the Presidency of the Council of the European Union in 2022, 13 years after its last Presidency. It is in this conjunction of major events that the change of the national face of the French €1 and €2 currencies is taking place, two decades after the appearance of the European currency.
