Games were played by ancient civilisations as competitive recreation and represent one of humanity’s oldest forms of social interaction. Evidence for the existence of dice as throwable cubes with numbered sides indicates they were made in Egypt at least as early as 2000 BCE. The first known board game, The Royal Game of Ur, originated around 4,600 years ago in Mesopotamia. By the beginning of the 10th century, playing cards had been invented in China. Many traditional games, which have their roots in days long gone, have stood the test of time. Despite modern electronic alternatives, they offer entertaining group activities strongly associated with joyous times, including Christmas and summer vacations. Enjoyed by children and regarded with fondness by older generations, they continue to inspire happy and memorable family occasions. Firmly ingrained in our cultural practices while helping to develop mental agility and strategic thinking, old-style games are inexpensive, easy to master, and above all, fun.

A new series dedicated to vases, which are considered the most expensive and famous in the whole world.

The first coin from this series “Chinese Dragon” features a small blue and white dragon porcelain vase that was sold for just about £5million – barely in 500 times more than it was estimated! The dragon vase dates back to the Qianlong period. It contains an intricate dragon motif and is beautifully decorated with bands of plantain leaves, waves, as well as a cloud-collar at the waisted neck and broad shoulders. The sides are densely painted with six meticulously rendered five-clawed dragons portrayed emerging from crashing waves and flying amid stylized clouds and flames.

A magnificent coin featuring a porcelain inset in the shape of a vase that is an incredibly fine piece of Chinese porcelain!

Created by former intelligence officer and author Ian Fleming in 1953, James Bond is a fearless, charismatic and deadly British Secret Service agent with a ‘licence to kill’. Also known by the codename 007, he has been portrayed by six actors – Sean Connery, George Lazenby, Roger Moore, Timothy Dalton, Pierce Brosnan and Daniel Craig – in 25 thrilling movies released by EON Productions since 1962.

In Live And Let Die, released in 1973, Bond investigates Dr. Kananga, a Caribbean Prime Minister intent on dominating the heroin trade. Played by Roger Moore, 007 pursues Mr. Big, the corrupt official’s alter ego, exposing himself to vicious assassins and voodoo magic. But the agent’s persistence pays off when Kananga’s inflated ambitions are dramatically blown to pieces.

The coin’s reverse depicts James Bond, the charismatic Secret Service agent. Based on an official movie poster, the design also represents a tarot card and a fiery explosion. Included on the reverse are the iconic gun barrel graphic from the franchise’s signature opening sequence, the famous 007 gun logo and the inscription ‘LIVE AND LET DIE’ featuring a knife symbol.

Individual releases from the James Bond Official 25-Coin Collection are each housed in a 007 branded case with a transparent acrylic top and a movie themed shipper. Each coin is accompanied by a Certificate of Authenticity featuring poster artwork
