And not to be forgotten: every single coin in this series is adorned with a genuine four-leaf clover.

In 1620, Sir John Melton made the first literary reference to clovers bringing good luck when he wrote “If a man walking in the fields find any four-leaved grass, he shall in a small while after find some good thing.” From there, the legend stuck. Our «Four Leaf Clover» series has not been around quite as long. Regardless, we proudly bring you our lucky silver and gold charms each year. This 2026 edition is beautifully adorned with elegant filigree floral ornaments.

The effigy of Paul Kruger, the first President of the Zuid Afrikaansche Republiek (ZAR) is depicted on the obverse. The reverse was originally designed and engraved by the famous sculptor, Coert Steynberg, and features one of South Africa’s national animal, a Springbok.

The 2oz silver Krugerrand returns in 2021, after the popularity of the 2oz gold Krugerrand, introduced in 2018.

Scorpio is the second Mars sign, and the one that most relates to Ares: while the fiery aspects of Aries might relate to him to some extent, it’s the more emotional Scorpio that resonates closer to him and his primal nature. As the later Autumn sign, Scorpio is related to Winter’s start, and thus to sunset-like conditions: as the Sun dims, so does life. Scorpio is defined by it’s loyalty bordering on possessiveness, as well as a rather strong impulsive nature but consciously made subtle or even outright hidden. Ares displays a surprising amount of loyalty to his family, even when most of Olympus doesn’t like him very much, and while numerous, his affairs are occult, unlike Zeus’ or Apollo’s. This reflects water as darkness: driven by strong impulses, but with the element of mystery and hidden nature. Due to Scorpio’s vindictiveness and hidden nature, it is often considered the most malign of the signs, just as Ares is the most distrusted of the Olympians, but neither are “evil” and while unpleasant they are necessary for the inner workings of nature. Darkness is after all important to health in it’s Melatonin friendliness, especially when it’s connected to water.

Every year, people across the globe watch in awe as the world’s finest ski jumpers launch themselves fearlessly into the air at the New Year ski jumping event in Garmisch-Partenkirchen, Germany. In Italy, many welcome the new year with a plunge into a river or the cold sea, often in costume, always with great spirit. In Greece and Cyprus, the waters are blessed on 6 January, when a priest casts a cross into the sea and young people dive in after it. The Year of the Snake will commence on 29 January 2025. In Chinese element theory, each zodiac sign is associated with one of the five elements: metal, wood, water, fire and earth and each element appears in a 60 year cycle. 2025 represents the year of the Fire Snake. It is said people born in this year are intuitive, strategic and ingelligent, exuding charm, elegance and wisdom.
This astounding 65mm 1oz pure silver coin features a dynamic image of a snake in mirror image. The coin is created in proof condition by BH Mayer Mint, with the Snake on one side sculpted proof with a highly polished proof table, the other side with a frosted table and polished Snake. As with each of the previous issues, only 500 coins will be released.
These will be the second coin in this series to feature the effigy of King Charles III.

According to one legend, there is a reason for the order of the animals in the cycle. A race was held to cross a great river, and the order of the animals in the cycle was based upon their order in finishing the race. In this story, the snake compensated for not being the best swimmer by hitching a hidden ride on the Horse's hoof. When the horse was about to cross the finish line, the snake jumped out, scaring the horse, and thus edging it out for sixth place. The same twelve animals are also used to symbolize the cycle of hours in the day, each being associated with a two-hour time period. The hour of the snake is 9:00 to 11:00 a.m., the time when the Sun warms up the Earth, and snakes are said to slither out of their holes. The month of the snake is the 4th month of the Chinese lunar calendar and it usually falls within the months of May through June depending on the Chinese to Gregorian calendar conversion. The reason the animal signs are referred to as zodiacal is that one's personality is said to be influenced by the animal signs ruling the time of birth, together with elemental aspects of the animal signs within the sexagenary cycle. Similarly, the year governed by a particular animal sign is supposed to be characterized by it, with the effects particularly strong for people who were born in any year governed by the same animal sign.
