Allow us to delight with the tale of the «Imperial Coronation Egg», a remarkable masterpiece crafted by the gifted Peter Carl Fabergé. This splendid creation marks the 5th edition of this extraordinary series and exudes the opulence of a bygone era.

In 1897, this Fabergé marvel was presented as a gift to the last Russian Tsarina of the Romanov dynasty in homage to the resplendent golden robe she wore during her coronation.
Crafted from a medley of multicoloured gold, adorned with dazzling diamonds, and graced with delicate Guilloche ornaments, this egg embodies the elegance of its time.

Today, this treasure, with a worth of approximately 18 million dollars, is in possession of Victor Vekselberg and is residing in the Museum of St. Petersburg, where the «Imperial Coronation Egg» captivates the hearts of all who visit.
But there is yet another exquisite secret concealed within the original – a detailed miniature replica of the coronation carriage.

This amazing coin is CIT’s 3rd release in a series honoring the famous Fabergé eggs. The first two editions were sold out immediately and we expect this gorgeous specimen to do the same. This coin honors the famous “Rosebud” Fabergé egg. Originally created by Michael Perchin under the careful eye of master jeweler Peter Carl Fabergé in 1895, it was given to Empress Alexandra Feodorovna by Czar Nicholas II of Russia. The magnificent egg was created to remind the Empress of the yellow roses that she missed dearly from her homelands.

The egg itself is covered in red enamel and decorated with wreaths and swags of varicolored gold. There are four bands of rose-cut diamonds that run vertically across the egg and each end also had diamonds. One end shows a miniature picture of Nicholas II and the other end shows the year 1895. As with most Fabergé eggs, there were surprises inside. The first surprise was an enameled yellow rose that opened up and revealed a miniature Imperial crown made of rose-cut diamonds and two cabochon rubies. The other surprise is a ruby pendant. Both surprises are lost to history but the enameled yellow rose remains. The egg now sits in the Fabergé Museum in Saint Petersburg, Russia and was part of a 9-egg collection that was purchased from Malcom Forbes for $100 million.

Our 2-ounce silver proof is a worthy tribute to this impressive treasure and captures all of the colorful details of the original. The high relief showcases all the golden ridges and the bright red color of the enamel. This beautiful egg is set against an elegant and ornate proof silver background. Only 888 will be struck.

The 4th edition of the series celebrates another exceptional piece of Peter Carl Fabergé’s craftsmanship with this lost and rediscovered treasure – the Tsarevich Egg. The original piece is made of blue lapis lazuli adorned with gold and diamonds. Inside lies a double-headed imperial eagle holding a portrait of Alexei Nikolaevich, the seven-year-old son of Tsar Nicholas II and Tsarina Alexandra Feodorovna. The imperial egg was crafted in 1912 and presented as a gift to Alexei’s mother after his miraculous recovery from severe illness. It is currently displayed in the Virginia Museum of Fine Arts in Richmond, US.

Monnaie de Paris pays tribute to the major masterpieces of French museums or having been painted in France.

The obverse represent Salvador Dali's famous masterpiece "The Persistence of Memory". The "Museum Masterpiece" stamp that defines this series has been added at the bottom right and blends with the work. In the background, the front of Beaubourg, where Salvador Dali has been the subject of several exhibitions, most recently in 2013, has been depicted. The name of the work and that of the artist also complete the decoration. The year 2021 appears on the left.

The reverse is common to the series. It depicts several views of many major French museums. An interior view of the Musée d’Orsay, on the top left, is recognizable by its distinctive clock. Beside that is a view of the façade of the Louvre as seen from the Napoleon courtyard where the pyramid is located. Below these two elements, a fresco shows the Hôtel Salé, which houses the Picasso Museum. The lower portion of the reverse side features a view of the façade of Hôtel Biron, the current Rodin Museum, and above, the famous Centre Pompidou stairway. The face value and the words “République Française” are also inscribed on the reverse side.
