THE FIRST LAUGHING BUDDHA GOLD COIN WITH JADE

This exceptional gold coin, struck by The Perth Mint in prestigious proof quality, honours Laughing Buddha with a bas relief image of the auspicious figure moulded in jade.
Laughing Buddha is considered to be a joyous, more exuberant reincarnation of the famous philosopher and spiritual teacher. Associated with good luck, happiness and abundance in whatever one wishes for, he is a highly revered figure for many adherents.

Represented in jade, an ornamental mineral that has occupied an important place in Asian cultures for thousands of years, Laughing Buddha is depicted atop a portrayal of lucky coins. As well as The Perth Mint’s ‘P’ mintmark, the design includes the inscription LAUGHING BUDDHA in a suitably styled font.

Accompanied by a numbered Certificate of Authenticity, the coin is housed in a classic display case with a wooden lid and a brilliantly illustrated shipper.

We can be proud of the Czech glass - our craftsmen became famous throughout the world and it still has the sound of a prestigious product with an exceptional quality of. Therefore it is entitled to the second issue of the series of silver coins representing the historical milestones in glass manufacture.

The first written mention of glass production in Bohemia dates back to the 1162. The most glorious period of Czech glassmaking, however, occurred in the 17th and 18th centuries, when the Baroque craftsmen made the first Czech crystal. Their extraordinary discovery overshadowed, until then, the unequaled Venetian glass (to which was dedicated the first issue of this series) and have gained an unrivaled position in the European markets. Although their secrets were eventually revealed, the Czech glass conquered the world. The Czech crystal chandeliers hung in the courts of rulers such as Louis XV., Maria Theresa or Elizabeth I Petrovna. Jablonec nad Nisou in North Bohemia played an important role in glass expansion, when at the end of the 19th century they produced 65% of the world’s production of glass jewellery. The field employed over 30,000 workers. The 20th century also began magnificently for the region, when for the year 1911, the Jablonec entrepreneurs handed over taxes to the Habsburg monarchy of the same amount as all the Crown land of Dalmatia put together. At the end of the 20th century, the glass Jablonec nad Nisou also became the city of coinage - it is now the seat of the Czech Mint.

The coin, prepared by the German company Numiscom in cooperation with the Czech Mint and the Jizera company Glass Pesničák, consists of two parts. The first takes the form of a ring minted from two ounces of pure silver. The reverse side of the ring bears the inscription BOHEMIA GLASS and the decorative motif performed in the style of Cubism of Prague. The obverse of the ring is dedicated to the attributes of the issuer of the coin - the emblem of the Republic of Congo, the year of issue 2016 and the nominal value of 1000 FRANCS CFA. The center of the coin then consists of glass of red color with a motive, which is a typical example of the skill of North Bohemian glass makers.

Thanks to authentic workmanship, no two coins are the same. A part of each coin are a refined frame and a booklet in English, which tells the story of this unique issue.

February's birthstone, amethyst, is the most precious form of quartz. It is the colour of royalty (purple) and is said to represent dignity and piety. A powerful stone, amethyst is said to bring courage and tranquility to all who celebrate a birthday this month. Flanked by three smaller Swarovski® crystals and surrounded by a Celtic art-inspired design, the colourful Swarovski® crystal at the centre is a token of good fortune—not just in your birthday month, but for the whole year. And with the help of a bezel kit (not included), your coin will easily become a cherished piece of jewellery that expresses who you are.
Do you need to find a gift for someone born in February? Then order this gorgeous coin!

The reverse design by artist Pandora Young is an intersection of art and mathematics, and features a stylized pattern arranged according to the base-six system. Inspired by the Celtic triskele, the engraved art incorporates three clear Swarovski® crystals into our birthstone celebration of those born in May ( emerald), as represented by the gem-like Swarovski® crystal at the centre of the coin. The obverse features the effigy of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II by Susanna Blunt.

The coin is encapsulated and presented in a Royal Canadian Mint-branded clamshell with a black beauty box.
